MS Dhoni’s sand sculpture unveiled, to honour his contribution to cricket
Chennai, 10 May 2019: Boost, one of GSK’s leading brands in the Health Food Drinks category, honoured its brand ambassador MS Dhoni by creating a massive & unique sand sculpture. This was a tribute to Dhoni’s contribution to cricket and his long-standing relationship with the brand. The sand sculpture was designed and inaugurated by renowned sand artist Manas Sahoo at Elliot’s beach, Chennai.
MS Dhoni, who is also known as ‘Thala’, has always encouraged young players to play a bigger game, be it with his leadership style or his inspiring attitude on the cricket ground. The sand sculpture is a befitting tribute to such an inspiring sportsperson. Crowds gathered around the venue in big numbers to join Boost in this tribute to their hero.
As part of the activation, kids also got an opportunity to try their hand at MS Dhoni’s signature helicopter shot while playing cricket in the specially setup practice nets at the venue. Dhoni has upheld the legacy of inspiring young sports enthusiasts and this activation is a perfect example of bringing alive Boost’s promise of inspiring and winning big.

Through this platform, young players will be trained by their cricketing heroes Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer about different facets of sports. On Boostcamp, these champions will give various tips and tricks of the game to young players on how to improve skills, build stamina, handle tough situations and take the right nutrition.

Chennai, January 18, 2019: Two-time Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC and GSK’s leading health food drinks brand BOOST have come together to form the BOOST Chennaiyin FC Inter School Football Championship that is set to commence on January 21. With the aim to develop grassroots football in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, the four-week long tournament will feature 1100+ children from 64 teams across two age groups (U-13 & U-15), it was announced at a joint press conference here today. The partnership also marks BOOST coming on board as CFC’s Official Energy Partner.
In line with CFC’s philosophy of developing youth football, the top three teams from both age groups will receive access to coaching from the Chennaiyin FC coaching staff and select first team players. It falls under BOOST's initiative of ‘Play The Pros’ wherein selected kids get to play with and learn from their favorite CFC heroes.
CFC Assistant Coach and Technical Director for Youth Development Syed Sabir Pasha inaugurated the tournament in the company of first team midfielder Dhanpal Ganesh and U-15 player Rahul K. Manjula. “The ultimate objective is to have budding talent from this tournament absorbed into the youth teams’ pyramid underneath the CFC first team that comprises the U-13s, U-15s, U-18s and B team. The association with BOOST and this Championship aligns with our goals of promoting young talent like Rahul from Chennai and the state,” he added.
Rahul is a shining example of a youngster coming through the CFC ranks. Rahul captained and shone for the U-13s in their debut season last year as they won the U-13 Youth League Chennai zone with a 100% record enroute an appearance in the final round. With the BOOST Chennaiyin FC Inter School Football Championship contested in the U-13 and U-15 categories, the club can unearth diverse talent and hone them.

Tournament Kicks-Off on January 15; Girls Category Included for The First Time
Bengaluru 11th January 2019: The second edition of the BOOST BFC Inter-School Soccer Shield is all set to kick-off at the Bangalore Football Stadium on January 15, the club announced on Friday. Bigger in scale compared to the last edition, the Soccer Shield will see 1000+ children from over 80 teams from schools across the city battle it out in four age categories (U8, U10, U12 and U14). In a first, the competition has also been extended to girls in the U8, U10 and U12 category.
Keeping in line with the competition’s aim of developing football at a grassroots level and being a feeder to the Blues’ academy sides, standout performers from the tournament will get the opportunity to be part of a fully-funded high-performance camp at the Inspire Institute of Sport, in Bellary. The IIS also houses the Bengaluru FC Residential Academy. The winners also have an excellent chance of securing a scholarship in Bengaluru FC soccer schools and a spot on the Bengaluru FC B-Team while consistently improving their fitness and the way they play the game along the way.
Bengaluru FC, with its grassroots program, BFC Soccer Schools, and Residential Youth Academy in Bellary, has structured the ideal pathway for young footballers with potential and club COO, Mustafa Ghouse said the Soccer Shield was an important aspect in the system.
Bengaluru FC COO, Mustafa Ghouse went on to say, “We are really excited for the second edition of the BOOST BFC Inter-School Soccer Shield. The tournament has grown on all fronts from last season, and the overwhelming response it has received from schools across the city this year reaffirms how much it has grown since last year. In addition, this year will see selected children get an opportunity to train at the BFC Academy at the Inspire Institute of Sport and we’re happy to be able to provide them with an experience like none other in the country. It’s also a big step up for us that we’re able to include a girl’s category in this edition and we hope that this leads to something special.”
One of the School Shield’s biggest success stories is thirteen-year-old Gautam Rajesh of DPS East, who was scouted from the 2018 edition and is currently with the club’s U13 side. The young midfielder was even part of the Karnataka U14 squad at the 2018 Sub Junior Nationals.

With this association, Boost has taken its communication platform of ‘Play A Bigger Game’ to the next level with a LIVE activation that gives young kids a chance to Play The Pros @PBL 2018. Inter-School Soccer Shield Set To Kick-Off On January 23; Host Of Other Initiatives Planned
Bengaluru, 16 January 2018: Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC have partnered with Boost, one of GSK’s leading brands in the Health Food Drinks category to develop grassroots football in Bengaluru, the club announced on Tuesday. The association also marks Boost’s coming on board with BFC as the club’s ‘official energy partner’.
The Blues will kick-off the partnership with the Boost-BFC Inter-School Soccer Shield – a flagship event of the club that enters its third edition. The tournament will feature 60 school teams across the U10, U12 and U14 age groups and will be held at the Bangalore Football Stadium, from January 23rd onwards.
While the tournament will be the anchor of the association, it also includes several development initiatives like the coach education program where coaches from participating teams are handed the opportunity to take part in the AIFF ‘D’ license course which will be conducted in the city for the first time. This apart, the programme includes seminars educating the children and parents on various aspects of the sport like nutrition and psychology.
The winning teams from each category will be awarded with the opportunity of a three-day training course with Bengaluru FC’s licensed youth coaches.
On this association, Albert Roca, Head Coach, Bengaluru FC said, “It’s very important for children to start playing football at a young age, and competitive tournaments like this give them the chance to showcase their talent. Moreover, it is a big opportunity for us as a club to scout for talent that can be added to our youth ranks and I’m looking forward to it.”
Also present at the announcement was club and national team captain Sunil Chhetri who lauded the manner in which the tournament has grown. “I’ve been at Bengaluru FC for five years now and I have been following the Soccer Shield closely. It’s very encouraging to see the new aspects that have been added to make this edition bigger and better than the previous ones. I wish I had as many opportunities when I was in school. It’s a great opportunity that I am certain kids, coaches and parents would not let slip by.”

956 young champions have set a new Guinness world record for the largest tennis lesson at SDAT Stadium, Chennai!
